Bournemouth confirms the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga

Bournemouth have confirmed the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, he joins the Cherries on a season loan deal until 2025.

The news was confirmed on the official website of Bournemouth on Thursday, August 29, 2024. According to reports, Kepa Arrizabalaga's wages for the rest of the 2024/25 season will be taken care of by the club.

The Spain international was also part of the Chelsea squad to win the 2021 Champions League and 2019 Europa League, as well as the 2022 Club World Cup. He also came off the bench and saved two penalties in the shootout as Chelsea lifted the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal in August 2021.

Kepa played 20 times in all competitions for Madrid last season as they went on to win La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup.

What did Kepa Arrizabalaga say about his move to Bournemouth?

The Spaniard confirmed during his first interview on the club's official website that it was easy for him to join the Cherries due to his relationship with Andoni Iraola at Athletic Bilbao.

"I know Andoni Iraola well, so of course that was a big reason for coming here, he spoke very well about everything here. I am so ready to be here and play in front of our fans. Hopefully, we can win something and it could be a great year."

Kepa recently signed a new deal at Chelsea meaning his contract will expire in the summer of 2026.
