Benjamin Mendy Pleads Not Guilty to the Rape Accusations

Manchester City's defender, Benjamin Mendy has pleaded not guilty to the accusations of rape that he is been placed on trial.

The footballer appeared at the Chester Crown on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022 for his trial. Mendy has always pleaded not guilty to the seven rape allegations and one attempted rape charge.

Mendy has been alleged to have committed the offences against seven young women between October 2018 and August last year ( 2021). He is due to stand trial alongside co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40.

Matturie also denied eight counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault relating to eight young women. The alleged offences span July 2012 to August last year. Mendy has played for Manchester City since 2017, when he joined from Monaco for a reported £52million.

The last time Mendy played for Manchester City was in 2021 after he was accused of rape.
