Bayern Munich have confirmed that its manager, Thomas Tuchel, will leave the club at the end of this current season ( 2023/24) after a disappointing result across all competitions.

The Bavarians confirmed the exit of Tuchel on its official website on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. According to reports from the club, the decision to leave the club at the end of this season was based on mutual consent after both parties reached an agreement.

The club CEO confirmed in a statement that the decision was taken after both parties reached an agreement.

He said,

"In a good, open discussion, we came to the decision to end our working relationship by mutual agreement in the summer. Our goal is to pursue a new footballing direction with a new head coach for the 2024/25 season. Until then, every individual at the club is expressly called upon to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and Bundesliga. I also explicitly hold the team accountable in this regard. In the Champions League in particular, after losing 1-0 in the first leg at Lazio, we are convinced we will reach the quarter-finals at a packed Allianz."

What did Thomas Tuchel say about his decision to leave Bayern Munich?

"We have agreed that we will end our working relationship at the end of this season. Until then, I will of course continue to do everything I can with my coaching staff to achieve maximum success."

Bayern Munich recorded one of their worst performances in the past few seasons, losing three games back-to-back across all competitions. The recent result in the league has left them eight points behind league leaders, Bayer Leverkusen.

Tuchel was appointed in March 2023 as a replacement for Julian Nagelsmann, he won the Bundesliga title two months later after his appointment.
