A Portuguese journalist, Pedro Sepuiveda, who is present at the venue of the ceremony, confirmed the news on his official Twitter account. According to the report, the 36-year-old will not be at the Theatre du Chatelet. This is the first time Ronaldo will not finish on the podium in the France Football award since 2007.

Ronaldo has not really gotten himself a shout for the award despite winning the top goalscorer's award in the Serie A and emerging as the highest goal scorer at the just concluded Euro 2020. The 36-year-old has been in excellent form since he joined the Red Devils, finding the back of the net nine (9) times across all competitions.

Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski are favorites to win the award when the winner is announced at the venue later today.
