Australian Open: Carlos Alcarez qualifies for Quater final in style

Former World number one tennis player, Carlos Alcarez has reached the quarter-final of the Australian Open making him the fourth youngest to achieve this feat.

The 20-year-old booked his spot in the final eight of the Men's category at the competition by beating Miomir Kecmanovic. He showed his dominance in the game taking the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 in one hour, 49 minutes, which was played on Monday, January 21, 2024.

Alcarez said after the match,

"I am feeling better and better every day. Every match that I play here in Rod Laver Arena, I’m feeling more comfortable. Obviously, it is a pleasure to play here. It’s an amazing court, a beautiful one. I enjoy playing here and showing my best level. It feels like home, which is always great, so I hope to keep feeling better and better every day.”

Alcaraz who missed the 2023 edition has dropped just one set so far at this tournament. The Spaniard’s next opponent at Melbourne Park will be Alexander Zverev, who earlier overcame Cameron Norrie 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(10-3)
