It was the end of the road at the ongoing Australian Open for Emma Raducanu as she was beaten by 27-year-old Danka Kovinic in a very keen contest.

The British number one played her second-round match with a lot of pain in her right hand which made the game easier for her opponent. The Brit lost the first set but came back into the game to win the second set, the fire power of her opponent was too much as she edged out the 19-year-old 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. This is Kovinic's first time to ever qualify to the third round of a grand slam.

In other results in the women's category, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova beat Samatha Stosur in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 while Elise Mertens also got herself into the third round by beating Irina- Camela Begu 6-3, 6-2.

It was not a good day for the Brits, as another hopeful in the Men's category kissed the competition goodbye. Former World Number 1, Andy Murray lost on three sets 6-4,6-4,6-4, to Japan's Taro Daniel to end his quest at the competition.

In other results, Daniil Medvedev beat Nick Krygrois to book himself a spot in the third round of the competition. World Number 175 Christoper Connell upset 13th sees, Diego Schwartzman in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-4,6-4 to book a spot in the third round. Benoit Paire also got past Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(4), 7-6(2) to advance to the third round.
