Aston Villa Open Talks with Phillipe Coutinho

Aston Villa have opened transfer talks with the agent of Barcelona's midfielder, Phillipe Coutinho.

The news was reported on the official Twitter account of transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022. According to reports from Villa, Steven Gerrard is keen on reuniting with his former Liverpool teammate.

Barcelona are also keen to sell the midfielder this transfer window which will allow them to register Ferran Torres before he can be eligible to play for the Catalonia Club. The Spaniard was bought in from Manchester City for €55 million on a five-year-deal.

Coutinho left Liverpool during the transfer window of January 2018 to join Barcelona for £ 146 million. The deal did not turn out as expected for Barcelona so he was loaned to Bayern Munich in 2019 for a season before returning to Camp Nou.
