AS Roma have confirmed the announcement of former Leicester City manager, Claudio Ranieri as its new head coach until the end of this season (2024/25).

Ranieri had initially retired from club management in the summer after saving Cagliari from relegation. The 73-year-old was appointed as a replacement for Ivan Juric who was sacked after a series of bad results at all competitions. This is the third time that Ranieri will be appointed by Roma, he was first appointed in 2009 before he made a return to the club in 2019.

Ranieri has coached 18 clubs during his 37-year managerial career, as well as the Greece national team. The height of his career was the Premier League title he won with Leicester City in 2015/16 season.

Roma had a series of bad results at the start of the 2024-25 season. They are down in 12th position in Serie A, just four points above the relegation zone. They also are at risk of not qualifying from the Europa League league phase

Daniele De Rossi was sacked as manager after just three games this season, while his replacement Ivan Juric was then sacked himself on Sunday after just two months in charge. Ranieri is Roma’s fourth manager in 2024 since Jose Mourinho was sacked earlier in the year.
