Arsenal confirm the contract extension of Takehiro Tomiyasu

Arsenal football club have confirmed the contract extension of its first team defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu until the summer of 2026.

The Japanese international whose current contract ends in 2025 decided to sign an extra year deal with an option to extend by a further year. The announcement of Tomiyasu's contract was announced on Arsenal's website on Wednesday, March 20, 2023, ust a few days after Ben White committed his future to the London club until 2028.

Tomiyasu has been instrumental for Arsenal since he joined the Premier League side from Bologna in 2021. Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta expressed his excitement when asked about his opinion on the defemder's decision to sign a new deal.

He said,

"Together with his natural ability and strength, Tomi's attitude, mentality and values are first-class. Tomi is loved by everyone and has been an integral part of the squad since joining us. The way he trains, with his desire and determination to be the best version of himself every day, is admirable."

Tomiyasu has made 20 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season, he scored his first goal in a 5-0 Premier League win over Sheffield United in October 2023.
