The Vice President of Argentina, Victoria Villarruel, has offered her support to Chelsea's midfielder Enzo Fernandez and his teammates amid accusations of making racial chants against France players.

Villarruel responded to the incident, in which Enzo Fernandez has faced the most criticism, as the video was shared on his Instagram account. She stated that there is nothing wrong with the song the players sang during Argentina 2024 Copa America celebration.

She expressed,

"No colonialist country is going to intimidate us for a football song or for telling the truths that they do not want to admit. Stop feigning indignation, hypocrites. Enzo, I'm with you."

Fernandez previously issued an apology letter to anyone offended by the song that he and his teammates sang during a live video on his Instagram channel.

He stated,

" I want to sincerely apologize for a video posted on my Instagram channel during the national team celebrations. The song includes highly offensive language, and there is absolutely no excuse for these words. I stand against discrimination in all forms and apologize for getting caught up in the euphoria of our Copa America celebrations. That video, that moment, those words, do not reflect my beliefs or my character. I am truly sorry."

Chelsea has condemned the actions and confirmed that they are investigating the situation, but they have acknowledged Enzo's apology. It is yet to be seen if the Blues will punish the Argentine.

However, some France players at Chelsea have decided to unfollow Fernandez on Instagram following the incident but there is no update regarding how the players will welcome the midfielder when he returns from his break to join his Chelsea team-mates in their pre-season tour.

It is also yet to be decided if the Premier League will punish Enzo and the Premier League players that were in the video.
