Antony returns to UK to meet with Police
Manchester United winger, Antony has returned to the United Kingdom as he looks to sort out his situation with the Police.
The Brazilian International was suspended from the national team and his club after he was accused of sexual and domestic abuse by his ex-girlfriend. The Red Devils had earlier released a statement on its official website confirming that they were aware of the situation and that Antony would be given a leave of absence.
"Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries. Pending further information, the club will be making no further comments. As a club, we are taking this matter seriously, with consideration of the impact of these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of abuse."
He was voluntarily interviewed by Brazilian police in June and was not arrested or charged. Antony also volunteered to meet with Greater Manchester Police for questioning and will hand over his phone for inspection.
