Following the departure of Dessers, another player has reportedly left Nigeria's AFCON 2025 camp temporarily.

Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has reportedly been excused from Nigeria’s camp at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations due to a family emergency involving his mother.

According to reports, Adams’ mother was rushed to a hospital in Fez, Morocco, shortly before Nigeria’s previous AFCON match. His parents had been in Morocco to support him and the national team during the tournament when the situation occurred.

A family source is said to have revealed that his mother is responding to treatment, with Adams allegedly granted permission by team officials to remain with her in the hospital on compassionate grounds.

The forward in his post-match interview after Nigeria's victory over Mozambique in the round of 16 fixture at the AFCON 2025 tournament opened up that his mother was sick and dedicated his goal to her.

At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation from the Nigeria Football Federation or the Super Eagles’ camp regarding Adams’ status or a possible return date.
