Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana has defended his teammate, Alejandro Garnacho over a social media post made by the teenager.

Alejandro Garnacho posted a celebratory picture including Andre Onana and other teammates following the goalkeeper's late penalty save in their 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The forward player has deleted the post which included emojis, which has been considered offensive by some people.

However, the Cameroonian International posted on his official social media accounts on Thursday, October 26, 2023, asking people not to react for him.

"People cannot choose what I should be offended by. I know exactly what [Garnacho] meant: Power and strength. This matter should go no further."

The FA is aware of the social media post and has sought Garnacho's observations on it through Manchester United.

This is not the first time the FA has punished a player for what seems like an honest post. In 2020, Manchester United's forward player, Edinson Cavani, was banned for three matches and fined £100,000 when he posted a comment to thank a fan.
