AFCON 2025 champions Senegal get mouthwatering rewards from the president

Following the incredible AFCON 2025 campaign and victory for the Terenga Lions of Senegal, the Nation's president has announced mouthwatering rewards for the players.

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has unveiled an unprecedented reward package for the national team following their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph in Morocco.

Under the plan announced by the president, each player in the victorious squad will receive €115,000 along with a 1,500-square-metre plot of land on the Petite Côte, one of Senegal’s most sought-after coastal regions. The gesture is being hailed as one of the most generous state-backed reward schemes in African football history.

Members of the Senegalese Football Federation are also set to benefit significantly. According to the announcement, federation officials will each receive €75,000 in addition to 1,000 square metres of land on the Petite Côte, recognizing their role in the team’s preparation and long-term development.

The reward package extends beyond the pitch. Ministry officials who travelled with the team to Morocco during the tournament will collectively share €465,000, alongside allocations of land plots, as part of a broader acknowledgment of institutional support behind the AFCON success.

President Faye described the rewards as a symbol of national gratitude and a commitment to valuing sporting excellence. The announcement has sparked widespread discussion across Senegal and beyond, with many praising the government’s recognition of football’s unifying power and its impact on national pride.
