The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song, has raised a lot of questions with his 27-man squad list selection for AFCON 2023.

Rigobert Song confirmed his provisional 27-man squad list with a key player missing in action and Manchester United's Andre Onana receiving a call-up to the squad after initially announcing his retirement from international football after the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting was a noticeable absentee from the provisional list submitted by Cameroon with two local league players forward Leonel Ateba and midfielder Wilfried Nathan Douala receiving a call-up to the squad.

When asked the reason behind his decision, Song revealed, “We all know he is an important player. However, one has to make choices. We are all convinced the youngsters (Ateba and Douala) are keen to live their dream.”
