5 Key Points To Consider Ahead of Premier League Game Week 23

SHARE

Game week 23 in the Premier League is shaping up to be an action-packed weekend. Key points that can shape the game have been analyzed ahead of the first game between Watford and Norwich City on Friday the 21st of January 2022 at 9pm.

Jarrod Bowen

While some clubs will be looking to welcome back new and injured players, others will have new bosses ahead of their fixtures in the new Premier League game week. A few players are still out due to COVID 19, and Burnley will finally be playing for the first time in three weeks after several match postponements.

We highlighted key things that would be critically observed or thought about ahead of the games.

Everton under new management

Everton will be playing for the first time after the sack of Rafa Benitez. After a poor run of form, Duncan Ferguson has been put in charge of the club. Although this isn't Ferguson's first rodeo as a caretaker at the club, he would, however, be faced with a new challenge with a ruthless and star-packed Aston Villa side led by Steven Gerrard. A swap was completed successfully for both players, and Lucas Digne and El-Ghazi would be playing against their former clubs after a swap was completed successfully for both players.

Philippe Coutinho

Would Philippe Coutinho start?

After a stunning display against Manchester United in Game week 22, Philippe Coutinho is looking to impose himself and make himself irreplaceable in the Aston Villa team after returning to the Premier League on loan from Barcelona. He would be looking to replicate his performance against an Everton side that is struggling to stay in form in the Premier League this season.

Would Son Be Conte's Joker?

Heung Min Son has been missing from action for Tottenham Hotspur for some weeks now, but football fans would not be shocked to see him in the line-up against Chelsea on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022. Antonio Conte is looking to break the bad run his side has against a Thomas Tuchel led Chelsea.

Reece James has returned!

Chelsea fans can finally heave a sigh of relief after Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah were spotted in training at Cobham. Thomas Tuchel's side has struggled to get a win in the Premier League since December 2021 and would not mind having the necessary reinforcements to get the win and close in on Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League table.

Can Manchester United weather the Bowen Storm?

West Ham would like to get all three points against Manchester United after dropping points in a 2-3 loss to Leeds United. Jarrod Bowen is currently in the form of his life and is heavily supported by the skilled striker, Michail Antonio. We cannot help but wonder how a shaky Manchester United would be able to hold on against the onslaught of the West Ham attackers.

Overall we expect an action-packed game week in the premier league but we have our eyes on the Chelsea vs Tottenham fixture happening on Sunday, 23rd January 2022 at 5:30 pm.
