The English Football Association has announced dates for the commencement of the 2025 summer transfer window ahead of the new football season ( 2025/26).

The Premier League announced the news in its official website on Thursday, March 27, 2025 confirming that it will have two transfer windows this summer which will allow Manchester City and Chelsea to sign players before the Club World Cup.

Chelsea and Manchester City are the Premier League teams in the tournament which takes place in the United States from Sunday, June. Meanwhile, the Premier League can only have 12 weeks of a summer window which is why the five-day break in order to run it until September 1, 2025.

I2 weeks counting from June 1, 2025 will elapse on August 24, 2025 but the Premier League wants to close as the same date as the top leagues in Europe hence the reason for the five days break so it can close on the first day of September.

Why is the transfer window opening early in the Premier League?

FIFA had initially announced that new players will be registered for the competition which is the reason why the dates are opened early that usual. In 2024, the Premier League transfer window opened on June 13, and closed on 30 August.

Fifa had initially approved an additional window from 1-10 June that would allow the 32 clubs competing in the Club World Cup to register new players before the tournament.
It also agreed to open a registration window mid-tournament, from 27 June and 3 July, to allow clubs to register additional players for the knockout stage.
