Nigerian singer & songwriter, Luisbenz releases his sophomore EP, 'My Opps & Downs'

Nigerian rising singer-songwriter, Luisbenz releases his second studio EP titled “My Opps & Downs”, reassessing the world around him from a new perspective and identity after three years debuting in the music scene.

“My Opps & Downs” is a blend of Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B and Highlife. The five track EP created during Luisbenz hiatus has credits from producers like Pbeatzsounds and Mixbymole, who are not new to topping the Nigerian charts and also Nntathuggg, Graeye and Nanoway, who brought their unique set skills to helped push, challenge and evolve the African sound through the EP.

Born “Joshua Chuks-Uguru”, Luisbenz hit the stage early in secondary school performing as a member of the defunct musical group “Banana gang” alongside two of his friends. His debut EP, the revelatory “Benz or Nothing” released in 2020 was an immediate runaway hit after which he took a brief hiatus to reflect on the trajectory of his life, and reflection often births new perspectives, Luisbenz shows a glimpse of that in melodic tunes with his sophomore project “My Opps & Downs”, coming back strongly with a bold message that “All Opposition must kiss the floor”.

The EP “My Opps & Downs” opens with “Vakation” where Luisbenz takes you on a quick journey through the innermost thoughts in his mind making way for the second track “Hiding”, a passionate song about a love so close but so far.

The third track titled “Anotha man” speaks about loyalty in melodic expression, and “Chaser”e fourth track is a hustlers anthem that sends an embrace of solidarity to every entrepreneur or dreamer chaser out there. The EP closes with “Opps”, a highlife banger with a fiery message to stay on guard.
