Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stirred conversations online after revealing how much artists can earn for performing at private events like naming ceremonies.

Speaking during a recent interview on Tap In With TT, the Unavailable crooner disclosed that artists in Nigeria could be booked for as much as $400,000 to perform at such occasions. Davido explained that it’s a common practice for wealthy families to hire big-name entertainers for personal events such are naming ceremonies, comparing it to the culture in India where celebrities are frequently invited to grace weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations.

“You can get booked for a naming ceremony - $400K,” Davido said in part. “It’s just like in India; they always celebrate everything. Once you’re doing a wedding or a birthday, especially if you have money, the main thing is to invite a big artist.”

His revelation has since triggered mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing surprise at the staggering performance fees while others noted it reflects the luxury lifestyle of the country’s elite.
