Wizkid's 'Essence' Goes Top of Billboard Adult R&B Airplay Chart

Nigerian superstar, Wizkid's smash hit song Essence has broken into the top spot of the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart for this week.

Wizkid's Essence has been making waves on Billboard all through the year and has now topped the Billboard Adult R&B chart. This was announced by Billboard on Thursday, the 14th of October 2021.

Wizkid has had a very good year, even by his own standards. His Made in Lagos album, released last year continued its good run this year, much owing to the success of the song Essence which featured Tems. Essence grew over time in the US and even global and currently sits in the top 10 spots on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Wizkid's appearance on the top of the Adult R&B Airplay chart signifies Essence's strength on the mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop radio. The song enjoyed a 13% boost in airplay which took it from the no. 2 spot last week to the top spot this week. This is Wizkid's first no. 1 on the Billboard R&B Airplay chart on his third appearance, while Tems gets her first no. 1 spot on the chart in her very first appearance.
