Why fans can’t stop talking about FOLA’s Homecoming concert

Here is why fans can't stop talking about FOLA's recently held Homecoming concert in Ibadan on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

FOLA’s return to Ibadan was always going to be more than another stop on his performance calendar. On Saturday, October 3, 2026, the singer brought his Homecoming Concert to Agodi Gardens, turning the night into a celebration of how far he has come, the city that shaped him and the fans who have grown with his music.

The anticipation had been building long before FOLA stepped on stage. Ahead of the concert, the singer announced that early-bird tickets had sold out and additional tickets were being released, while telling fans he wanted the night to be one where friends and families could come together and sing the songs with him. By the end of the show, there was plenty for those in attendance to talk about — from FOLA’s performance and the crowd’s response to a strong line-up of guest artistes and one particularly memorable interaction with a fan.

A homecoming that actually felt like one

The significance of the show was difficult to separate from its location. FOLA has repeatedly spoken about what returning to Ibadan means to him, describing the city as home ahead of the concert. The show brought his rapidly growing career back to the place where his story began. TurnTable Charts

That context gave the night a different energy. This was not simply an artiste arriving in another city to run through a setlist. It was FOLA returning at a point when his profile has risen considerably, and doing so in front of an audience that appeared ready to celebrate that journey with him.

The timing also added another layer to the occasion. The concert came only days before the scheduled October 9 release of his next project, 9, making the homecoming a bridge between the run he has enjoyed so far and what comes next in his career. HypeTribe

FOLA gave fans the songs they came to hear

Naturally, the music remained at the centre of the night.

FOLA opened his performance wearing a green-and-white agbada with a matching abetiaja cap and traditional beads, beginning his set with what appeared to be an unreleased song, immediately giving those in attendance something they could not simply stream at home.

From there, familiar records took over.

Among the songs performed were “B4 B4,” “Very Soon” and “You,” allowing the audience to move between some of the collaborations and records that have helped define FOLA’s recent run.

“B4 B4,” in particular, arrived at the concert with considerable momentum. The Davido and Mayorkun collaboration featuring FOLA had previously spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100, while FOLA had already accumulated three No. 1 records on the chart in 2026 heading into the homecoming.

That catalogue helped make the concert feel less like an introduction and more like a celebration. Fans were not waiting to discover FOLA; they already knew the records.

The guests kept coming

FOLA did not carry the night alone.

The concert featured performances from Ayo Maff, TML Vibez, T.I Blaze, Bella Shmurda, Kidd Carder and Magixx, giving the audience a rotating line-up of some of the acts currently shaping Nigeria’s younger generation of mainstream music.

Bella Shmurda’s presence was particularly fitting. FOLA signed with Bella’s Dangbana Republik in 2024, making his appearance at an event celebrating FOLA’s rise feel connected to the singer’s wider journey rather than simply another guest booking.

Outside the musical performances, Yhemo Lee and Kamo State were also among the entertainment personalities and socialites reported at the event.

The guest appearances helped keep the show moving, but they did not overshadow its purpose. Every additional act ultimately fed into the central story of the night: FOLA had come home, and a sizeable part of the industry came with him.

The fans were part of the show

Perhaps the strongest indication of what the night meant came from the relationship between FOLA and his audience.

One of the most widely reported moments from the concert happened when FOLA invited a fan on stage after discovering that the supporter had tattooed the singer’s face on his arm. FOLA responded by promising him ₦500,000, turning an already striking display of fandom into one of the night’s standout moments.

Even before the show, that connection had been visible. When one fan spoke online about wanting to attend the concert while also visiting his father’s family home, FOLA publicly responded by offering to send an SUV to bring the fan and his family to the event VIP-style.

A big night at the right moment

FOLA’s Ibadan homecoming arrives during what has already been a major period in his career.

Alongside his chart success, he heads into the upcoming Headies with 10 nominations, including a Next Rated nomination. With a new project approaching and his audience expanding, the Ibadan concert offered a snapshot of an artiste whose career has moved quickly but whose relationship with his roots remains central to his story.
