Verydarkman reveals Federal High Court’s intervention in Mercy Chinwo legal battle

Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has shared new details about his ongoing legal case with gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.

In a video posted online on Thursday, March 27, 2025, VDM claimed that a Federal High Court issued a restraining order to halt proceedings at the Magistrate Court after an arrest order was made against him. The controversy began when the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a bench warrant for his arrest on charges of “criminal defamation” against Mercy Chinwo. Law enforcement agencies were directed to apprehend him and present him in court to face the allegations.

The lawsuit stemmed from alleged defamatory remarks made by Verydarkman on social media, which Mercy Chinwo argued were not only false but damaging to her reputation. The Wonder hitmaker also requested a court order preventing him from making further statements about her online.

However, VDM has now revealed a letter, dated March 27, 2025, which he claims directs the Magistrate Court to halt all legal proceedings against him, including the arrest warrant. In his video, he boasted about the strength of his legal team while taunting others involved in pending cases with him.

The latest development has sparked fresh discussions online, with many waiting to see how the legal battle unfolds.
