American pop stars Usher Raymond, popularly known as Usher, and Christopher Maurice Brown, popularly known as Chris Brown, have been nominated in the Afrobeats category of the upcoming MTV VMAs.
The MTV Video Music Awards, a global award show presented by the cable channel MTV to honour the best in the music video medium, is set to take centre stage again on September 11, 2024, at 1:00 am WAT from the UBS Arena in New York, USA.
Afrobeats, being a genre of music that has become globally accepted and is competing at the highest level, has witnessed a lot of collaboration between Western stars and African stars across all levels. The nominations list, which was made public today, August 6, 2024, saw heavyweights like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Burna Boy, and a list of others bagging nominations. Beginning today, fans can vote online for their preferred nominees across 15 categories through Friday, Aug. 30.
