South African Grammy Award winner Tyla has spoken about her latest album and how the collaborations on it came to be.

The Grammy Award winner released her debut album TYLA on March 22, 2024. The album has received enormous praise. Fans have declared it Album of the Year. She became the first African artist to chart in the top 10 of the USA iTunes chart in 2024. Her album ranked at number 6 on the iTunes United States chart.

During an interview, Tyla spoke about how she initially did not want any features on her debut album but it just happened anyway. She also spoke about narrowing the album from 330 songs to 14 tracks.

Tyla said, "We literally worked three years on this. A hundred and thirty songs narrowed down and it's basically me introducing myself to the world. Initially, I wasn't going to have features but they just started coming naturally. I was in a studio session mixing the album and Becky G was next door. I called her over. She listened to On My Body. She loved it and recorded her verse. With Tems I was supposed to submit the album. The next day she sent me a song".

Her latest music video Water Remix featuring Travis Scott has surpassed two million views within three days of its release.
