Tyla beats Rema for most streamed African artist title

In a major win for African music, Grammy award winning singer Tyla has dethroned Rema to become the African artist with the most monthly listeners on Spotify.

The surge comes after the release of her self-titled album on March 22, 2024. The album which has over 7 million streams has helped Tyla amass a more than loyal fanbase. Tyla now boasts an impressive 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify, edging out Rema's 29.7 million.

To top it off, this achievement holds true to Spotify’s announcement that Tyla’s daily streams have increased by over 30000 percent. Jodie Tabisher, Spotify’s Artist, Label and Partnerships Manager, South Africa disclosed this in celebration of Tyla’s newly released self-titled debut album.
