Read Shatta Wale's Response to Spotify's Face of Afrobeats Billboard
Ghanaian dancehall artist, Shatta Wale is the cover face for Spotify's Face of Afrobeats playlist and is even pictured on the billboard.
However, Shatta Wale in his response seemed concerned in Spotify's playlist and billboard, his music was tagged as afrobeats. He shared his response via Snapchat on Sunday, the 8th of August 2021.
The singer accused Nigerian musicians of being responsible for all music from Africa being tagged as Afrobeats. In his response, Shatta Wale also shows that he does not mind one bit that his music was tagged as afrobeats on the billboard, as long as he was paid. He wrote;
Thnx to nigeria now we are all afro beatz artiste... since Ghana doesn't have an identity.. we moveeeeee!!😂😂 At least if just to secure the bad I don't mind 😂
Shatta Wale seems to have a problem with Nigerian acts as evidenced by his response to his Spotify Face of Afrobeats billboard. However, he still works with a good number of Nigerian acts, most recently rave of the moment, Bella Shmurda. As the Rush singer said when asked the Ghanaian artists he would love to collaborate with;
Yeah surely! I have a song with Shatta Wale already. I'm looking forward to Stonbwoy, Sarkodie, and Kidi. I like that Kidi boy.
