Shallipopi weighs in on artistes' performance fees
Nigerian singer, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has shared his thoughts on how artistes should determine their performance fees.
In an interview with News Central TV, he emphasized that an artiste's value is directly tied to the success and reach of their music.
Shallipopi disputed the notion that Nigerian artistes have overpriced themselves out of the local market. Instead, he argued that fees should be commensurate with the artiste's streaming numbers. He stated, "It depends on your music and where it has gotten, that is what your price is going to be. If your music has gotten the same stream as an American artiste, you should be charging the same way they charge, but if it's not up to that, you cannot overcharge."
Also, according to Shallipopi, artistes who achieve significant streaming numbers comparable to their American counterparts should charge similar performance fees. However, those with lesser reach should adjust their prices accordingly. Lastly, his comments shed light on the intricacies of performance pricing in the music industry.
“There’s nobody that overcharges, don’t let these people whine you.
