Shallipopi on ranking Wizkid, Asake, Rema and Burna Boy
Nigerian hitmaker and Elon Musk crooner, Shallipopi challenged the idea of ranking Afrobeats giants at the recent Wireless Festival.
When asked to rank Wizkid, Asake, Burna Boy, and Rema, Shallipopi refused to place them in a competitive order. "In Nigeria, there's no first, second, there's only stars," Shallipopi declared. Therefore emphasizing the abundance of talent in the Nigerian music scene. He went on to acknowledge each artist individually, stating, "Asake is a Star, Wizkid is a Star, Me I am a star."
The interviewer persisted, attempting to pin Shallipopi down for a definitive ranking. With a playful twist, Shallipopi ultimately chose himself: "I pick Shallipopi." His message focuses on the strength of the genre, rather than focusing on individual competition.
