Seun Kuti blasts silence of female celebrities over Senator’s shocking allegations

Renowned Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has publicly criticized female celebrities and feminists in Nigeria for their silence on the sexual harassment allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan recently accused Akpabio of making persistent advances toward her, both in Nigeria and abroad. She alleged that his hostility toward her stemmed from her refusal to succumb to his demands.
Reacting to the controversy, Seun Kuti expressed disappointment in the lack of support for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, especially from women who had previously rallied behind actress Annie Idibia during her marital issues with singer 2Baba.
“I stand with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan 100 percent because she’s not even the first to make such allegations against the Senate President,” Kuti stated. “It’s appalling that all these so-called women activists are silent.”
He further criticized the entertainment industry, particularly Nollywood actors and actresses, accusing them of benefiting from government-backed grants and avoiding issues that challenge the political elite.
While acknowledging that he cannot personally protest, Kuti urged Nigerian women to support the senator, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations. His remarks have reignited conversations about gender advocacy and accountability in Nigeria’s political and entertainment circles.
