Popular Nigerian singer Ayra Starr is making waves online after earning recognition from Jay-Z’s Roc Nation following her big win at the 2025 BET Awards.
The Commas crooner, whose real name is Sarah Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, was one of the standout names at this year’s ceremony, held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Ayra Starr, who led the Nigerian nominees with three nods, clinched the coveted Best International Act award, beating a competitive lineup that included her Mavin Records labelmate Rema.
This win makes Ayra Starr the second Nigerian female artist to claim the award, following in the footsteps of Tems. She now joins a distinguished list of Nigerian stars who have previously won BET Awards, including 2Baba, D’banj, Ice Prince, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
