Rema's 'Calm Down' crowned the biggest African single of 2023 on the IFPI charts

Rema's smashing hit song 'Calm Down' which features Selena Gomez on the remix has been crowned the biggest African single of 2023 as well as the second biggest global single of the year 2023.

The official announcement which was made by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on its year chart confirmed that Rema's Calm Down set new records whilst breaking existing ones in their official announcement of the 10 biggest global singles of the year 2023.

Calm Down was ranked number two on the list and this is the highest peak position for an African song on the chart. Describing this recent achievement the IFPI stated, "The Top 10 also saw first ever IFPI Global Chart appearances for artists from Nigeria (with Rema’s Calm Down with Selena Gomez at #2) and Mexico (with Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma’s La Bebe at #6), reflecting the global rise of the Afrobeats and Regional Mexican genres in 2023."
