The Afrobeats poster boy made it known that he doesn't see the need to compete with the "big three" of Afrobeats.

Nigerian heavyweight singer and performer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has spoken about competing with Afrobeats "big three" artistes Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

The Mavin/Jonzing signee, whose sophomore album 'HEIS' is still gaining waves, sat down with UK media platform GRM Daily on the latest episode of Thoughts In A Culli to speak widely on several thoughts ranging from his career, personal life, Afrobeats, and more.

Asked about how he competes with Afrobeats heavyweights by show host Post (who is also the CEO of GRM Daily), who regarded Rema as part of the new Afrobeats "Big Four," the 24-year-old superstar made it known that he sees himself as someone very respectful and doesn't see the need to flex on his colleagues. Elaborating on his stance, Rema made it known that he doesn't allow the fans who pitch artistes against each other to get into his head but instead focusses more on himself.

According to the singer, the logic he applies to the competition revolves around the fact that he didn't know the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, or Davido five years ago; hence, he should not be so invested in competing with them or having to "dunk on them" now that they are colleagues.

He went on to state that although lyrics might connote one artistes being better than everyone, to him (Rema), it's just sports, and outside the music, it should be love for one another.
