Rema reveals why he recently picked up smoking cigarettes
The Afrobeats superstar feels like life forced him to sell his childhood.
Nigerian heavyweight singer and performer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has revealed why he took up smoking cigarettes.
The Mavin/Jonzing signee, whose sophomore album 'HEIS' is still gaining waves, sat down with UK media platform GRM Daily on the latest episode of "Thoughts in a Culli," to speak on several thoughts ranging from his career, personal life, Afrobeats, and more.
Speaking with the host Post in a Royce Rolls Cullinan cruising around the streets of London, the emotional Rema made it known that he decided to make his project the way it was because he wanted to feel like a child again; he wanted to be less serious because he has had to be on a strict schedule from an early age in his life. He said:
i really wanted to feel like a child again; it's been something that literally tore out my spirit. 'cause I feel like I grew up too fast. Life switched up on me crazy. When I lost my dad, when I lost my brother, it was just like... the weight was just on my shoulder, and it forced me to just sell my childhood just to provide for my family.

Speaking further in the interview, he made it known that due to how fast he grew, he just wanted to feel young again and be a rebel, feel free, and break some rules, hence why he picked up vices like smoking cigarettes, which he is being judged for because he is in the face of the public.
