R. Kelly Gets Heavy Prison Sentence

The verdict is finally out on American RnB star, R Kelly and the singer is set to be imprisoned for a long time as he gets a sentencing that'll see him in prison for several years. Full details below.

American RnB singer, R. Kelly is set to spend several years behind bars as he's been hit with a prison sentence of 30 years.

According to CNN,  U.S. District Court Judge Ann Donnelly sentenced the singer in a Brooklyn courtroom to 30 years in prison after he was convicted on all nine counts in his sex trafficking case. Ann Donnelly said; "These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years."

The 55-year-old singer who is referred to as the King of RnB had been dogged with accusations of sexual abuse against young adults and minors for the most part of his career and eventually got arrested in 2019 following indictment by grand juries in his hometown, Illinois. These claims were also strengthened by the documentary, Surviving R. Kelly which spoke to several of his victims and the Mute R. Kelly movement.

R. Kelly is popularly known for RnB hits such as I Believe I Can Fly, I'm Your Angel with Celine Dion, Same Girl with Usher and several other songs. He was also the husband to the late singer, Aaliyah, who he married illegally while she was underaged.
