Portable pleads with Wizkid and Davido to 'show love to the trenches'
Nigerian artist Habeeb Olalomi Oyegbile, widely known as Portable has made headlines once again with a special request for Nigerian megastars Wizkid and Davido.
Responding to Wizkid's latest philanthropic gesture of gifting rising hypeman Money Gee 20 million naira, Portable took to his Instagram account to remind Nigerians that he was the catalyst behind Wizkid's initial decision to show love to the streets. This claim is supported by Portable's earlier appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, where he urged Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy to "show love to the trenches."
Wizkid has seemingly heeded Portable's call, fulfilling the request by presenting Money Gee with a generous sum after the viral success of Portable's single, "Big Wizzy (Italawa)," dedicated to the Grammy-winning artist.
In a video message, Portable clarified that his appeal to Wizkid and Davido goes beyond financial considerations. He expressed a desire to collaborate on a future project with Wizkid and asked Davido for a "life-changing verse." This move comes as Portable continues his quest for significant collaborations, following the mainstream success of his hit single Zazzu Zeh, featuring Olamide Baddo.
Despite previous calls to collaborate with A-listers such as Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, and Asake, Portable has yet to secure a verse from any of these superstars. Nevertheless, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of realizing his superstar ambitions.
As Portable's appeal captures the attention of the music industry, fans eagerly await the response from Wizkid and Davido, anticipating the potential collaboration that could reshape the Nigerian music scene again.
