Nigerian street pop sensation, Portable, has taken to social media to express his frustration after discovering that some of his songs were inaccessible on international platforms.

In a leaked audio conversation between Portable and his manager, Babyluvgram on Friday, March 1, 2024, the singer, whose real name is Habeeb Olalomi Oyegbile, voiced his dismay over being asked to pay a hefty sum of N500,000 to regain access to his own music.

In the recording, Portable, who recently returned from a successful UK tour and enjoys a cordial relationship with international music star, Skepta, discussed reaching out to Skepta for assistance. The singer expressed his desire to lock all his music to restrict access, citing his dissatisfaction with the situation.

Taking a swipe at the white owners of the platform where his songs were locked, Portable criticized them for demanding payment to access his own intellectual property. He argued that as the producer of the music, he should not be required to pay to access what rightfully belongs to him.

The incident has sparked a conversation about ownership rights and access to music on digital platforms, with fans rallying behind Portable in solidarity.

As the situation unfolds, Portable remains determined to seek resolution and ensure that his music is made accessible to his fans worldwide.
