Renowned musician and 5x Grammy Award-winning artist, PJ Morton, is about to electrify Lagos on September 13th, as his highly anticipated "Cape Town To Cairo Tour" arrives at The New Afrika Shrine. After the resounding success of sold-out shows across the continent last fall, Morton is back with a renewed passion, a larger-than-life live set, and a connection to Nigeria that is deeper than ever before.

Joined by his expanded and impeccable live band, Afro Orleans, the performance promises a unique and intimate experience for fans, in between stops in South Africa, Ghana and Kenya.

For Morton, this tour is more than just a series of shows; it’s a homecoming to the place that sparked the creativity behind his latest album, Cape Town To Cairo. "I really wanted to return to the place that inspired the record," says Morton. "It feels surreal to be in the same place that I was in less than a year ago, writing a complete album. There’s just such a connection now. I’m looking forward to it."

Nigerian fans can expect an even more dynamic experience, with a larger ensemble and an energy that promises to elevate the performance to new heights. "They can expect an even bigger production. More energy and new music mixed in with all the other songs people love," Morton adds.

The Lagos show will feature a special set by local talent and Cape Town to Cairo collaborator Mádé Kuti, setting the stage for a celebration of the rich musical tapestry that Nigeria offers. Across the album, Morton also features the country’s own Fireboy DML, Asa, P.Priime, The Cavemen. and more, highlighting his deep respect and appreciation for Nigerian artistry, as he makes this tour as much a cultural exchange as it is a musical one.
