Music star Peter Okoye took the witness stand to testify against his elder brother, Jude Okoye, in a high-profile ₦1.38 billion fraud case.

Jude Okoye, former manager of the defunct music duo P-Square, was arraigned on Monday, April 14, 2025, at an Ikoyi court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of financial fraud involving ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

In a surprising turn, one of the prosecution’s key witnesses was none other than Jude’s younger brother, Peter Okoye. He took the stand to detail years of alleged financial mismanagement and deceit.

According to EFCC's investigation, Jude Okoye set up a company called Northside Music Limited. This was separate from P-Square’s official management entity, Northside Entertainment. Peter testified that Jude Okoye was the sole signatory to all of P-Square’s bank accounts. Also, he used this control to divert funds without their knowledge.

He further revealed that when financial support for his personal housing project in Ikoyi unexpectedly ceased, he began investigating the group's financial dealings. That led to the discovery that Jude had created another company. This company was co-owned by Jude’s wife (80% share) and himself (20%).

Peter explained that he sought clarity from his brothers but was abruptly informed he was no longer part of the group. He said this prompted him to involve his legal counsel, who eventually brought the case to court.

In his testimony, Peter also alleged that Jude prevented him from accessing P-Square’s account statements. This he did by instructing banks to withhold information unless obtained through court orders. When he eventually received the documents, he claimed the figures had been altered.

Jude Okoye was later granted bail set at ₦50 million. The case continues as more evidence and testimonies are expected in court.
