Peter Okoye blames fans for P-Square’s breakup

Afrobeats star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has stirred reactions online after claiming that fans played a significant role in the breakup of the iconic music duo, P-Square.
Speaking during a recent appearance at comedian AY’s show, Peter Okoye opened up about the internal tensions that led to the breakup of P-Square. According to him, the constant comparisons made by fans between him and his twin brother Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, sowed discord and inflated egos.
“Fans are the reason P-Square no dey together today,” Mr P said. “Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one. E con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una.”
P-Square, formed in 1997, rose to prominence with a string of hit songs including Bizzy Body, E No Easy, and Personally. The duo was also celebrated for their high-energy dance routines and musical chemistry.
The group eventually split amid a well-publicized family feud. In a more recent twist, Mr. P was listed as a witness in an ongoing ₦1.38 billion fraud case involving their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
While the brothers have occasionally reunited on stage, tensions appear to linger. Mr P’s latest comments have reignited conversations around the legacy and fallout of one of Nigeria’s most influential music groups.
