Nigerian singer and songwriter, Afeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, has initiated legal proceedings against Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo for defamation of character.

The singer, who also owns the Marlian record label, alleges that Iyabo Ojo spread false and malicious content about him on her Instagram page.

In a letter released by Naira Marley's legal team on Wednesday, December 13, it was revealed that Iyabo Ojo, in a September 2023 post, accused the Marlian boss of both spiritual and physical involvement with the late Ilerioluwa Aloba Mohbad. The letter further claims that Iyabo accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to Mohbad, whom he referred to as a brother.

Naira Marley's lawyers are seeking N500 million in damages from Iyabo Ojo unless she issues a public apology for the allegations made against the Marlian boss. The legal team has specified that the apology must be published on Iyabo Ojo's official Instagram account and in a national daily.

Failure to comply with this condition, as outlined in the viral letter, will prompt Naira Marley's legal representatives to proceed with filing a lawsuit against Iyabo Ojo.

This development comes on the heels of Naira Marley and Sam Larry's recent release from police detention a few weeks ago.

The unfolding legal saga adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing controversies surrounding Naira Marley and his interactions with fellow industry members. The public awaits further developments as the legal proceedings progress.
