Popular Nigerian singer, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, professionally known as Mayorkun, has addressed allegations made by social media influencer, Nicki Dabarbie, who accused him and fellow artist, Skibii of plotting to use her for a money ritual.

On Friday, April 19, 2024, Dabarbie claimed in a series of social media posts that the artists intended to use her for a ritual. Mayorkun, who had remained silent on the matter, took to his X handle on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, to express his frustration over the spread of these negative accusations and the public's reaction.

The talented singer stated that he had never met Nicki Dabarbie and was unaware of her existence until the allegations surfaced online. He emphasized that the case is currently in court and that he would not allow these defamatory claims to go unchallenged due to their impact on his reputation and career.

Mayorkun reiterated his innocence, stating, "I never met that person on the said day, still never seen that person till this day, never knew about that person’s existence not until those allegations came up." He further explained that many people believed the false story, which prompted him to publicly address the issue.

In a surprising turn, Mayorkun released a new song titled Under The Canopy, which incorporates voice recordings of Nicki Dabarbie’s accusations. He shared a video on Instagram of himself recording the song, captioned, “At the end of the day, the day gotta end! ‘under the canopy’ out at midnight!”

Mayorkun's decision to turn the controversy into music demonstrates his resolve to clear his name and address the situation creatively.
