Kcee explains how One Republic collaboration came to be

In an unprecedented and unexpected collaboration, Kcee and One Republic are teaming up for a remix of Ojapiano.

Nigerian singer Kcee and American Pop band One Republic announced via social media that they would collaborate on Kcee's Ojapiano remix. Kcee shared a video on social media, a snippet of both parties' recording sessions.Β 

During a discussion on Naija Info 102.7 FM, Kcee delved into the narrative surrounding his joint project with the American pop ensemble One Republic. The Nigerian musician recounted how One Republic initiated contact with him and arranged for him to visit their recording studio, which he found impressive. He further disclosed an encounter with the renowned American DJ and Major Lazer producer, Diplo, who expressed interest in collaborating with him. Diplo even provided Kcee with a beat and expressed a desire to include him in a track.

The Nigerian singer recounted the story saying, "Ojapiano was blowing up and becoming viral. I was in America doing one or two shows. I checked my DM and I saw a message from One Republic. They said 'We are massive fans and we love what you are doing with your song Ojapiano. We are open for a remix if you are interested"

"Am I crazy? I asked where they were. They said Los Angeles. They wanted an English version of Ojapiano. I took a flight from Dallas to Los Angeles. They sent a ride to pick me up and took me to the studio. we constructed and arranged the music. While I was there Diplo also gave me a beat to record. He wants to feature me on the song. God opened that door and more connections are still coming. Everyone needs to hear the Ojapiano remix. Oyibo singing Ojapiano. It's dropping next month".
