The bail hearing for Jude Engees Okoye, brother of Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), took place today at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Okoye is facing a seven-count charge related to illicit financial activities, including laundering over ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

During the bail hearing, the counsel of Jude Okoye, led by renowned human rights advocate Inibere Effiong, requested to expedite the matter due to Okoye's impending flight. Justice Alexander Owoeye granted the request, allowing the counsel to proceed with the motion for bail.

However, the prosecution, led by Fannel Anun, argued that Okoye is a flight risk and may tamper with witnesses. Okoye's counsel countered that he has complied with all court invitations and is not a flight risk.

Meanwhile, Paul Okoye, who was present in court, attempted to address the court directly but was advised to communicate through his lawyer. He presented documents to secure bail for his brother, but the judge noted that he is already familiar with Paul's TV appearances.

The hearing has been adjourned until on Monday, March 3, 2025 for a ruling, with Okoye to remain in the correctional facility for now. Paul Okoye has been advised to submit his documents on Monday, which may influence the bail decision.

Okoye's company, Northside Music Ltd., is also implicated in the case, with allegations including the purchase of a prime property in Ikoyi, Lagos, valued at ₦850,000,000, using funds allegedly derived from unlawful activities.
