The much anticipated 2022 Grammy Awards which is billed to hold on the 31st of this month is now reportedly likely to be postponed amid fears of the new Covid-19 variant.
According to Billboard, the 2022 Grammy Awards is likely to be postponed until a later date amid fears of the new Covid-19 variant, making it the second time in as many years. This was shared via the Billboard website on Monday, the 3rd of January 2022.
The Grammy Awards last year was also postponed in a similar fashion on the 5th of January last year. It was moved till the 14th of March due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles. The location for the awards show was also moved from the Staples Center to the nearby but less crowded Los Angeles Convention Center.

Although the Recording Academy itself hot announced that the Grammy Awards 2022 has been postponed, it is becoming the increasingly likely direction as the new Covid-19 variant is on the rise. Nigerian superstars; Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Femi Kuti, and Made Kuti have all been nominated for awards this year’s showcase. According to Billboard, calls to the Recording Academy to confirm the development has proved abortive so far.
