Nigerian rapper Falz has opened up about the roots of his activism, crediting his upbringing and family legacy for shaping his conscious approach to music and social justice.

In a recent episode of the Menisms Podcast, Falz shared that his activism predates the 2020 ENDSARS protests, which many believed marked the beginning of his advocacy.

Additionally, Falz attributed his activism to his childhood exposure to Fela Kuti's music and his father, Femi Falana's, decades-long commitment to social justice. Also, he emphasized that his father's selflessness and dedication to helping others had a profound impact on his life. It also inspired him to use his platform for good.

Meanwhile, the rapper stressed that his activism is not a recent development, but rather a long-standing aspect of his identity. "I've always been conscious, and it's always been there," he said.
