DJ Lucy Banini honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award in Accra
Lucy Banini, a pioneer of the Ghanaian disc jockeying scene, was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the 2023 Ghanaian DJ Awards held at the Grand Arena, Accra, Ghana.
Lucy Banini was the first female disc jockey in Ghana as she started her journey in the music world at the Ghanaian Broadcasting Corporation.
Lucy was a trailblazer during her time and was recognised for paving the way for future Ghanaian DJs. On receiving her award, she said, ”I am truly honored and humbled to receive the lifetime achievement awards. The recognition is not just for me but for every aspiring Dj especially the women who dare to dream big. It’s a testament to the power of passion, hard work and breaking barriers. "
The Ghanaian DJ Awards is an annual ceremony designed to recognise and honour disc jockeys and people who have influenced electronic dance music in Ghana. This edition, its eleventh, crowned TMSK DJ as the year's female DJ of the year and Dj Spices as the two-time Young DJ of the year. The show had performances from Shatta Wale and other amazing performers and artists.
