Davido speaks on friendship with Hushpuppi
Nigerian music star Davido has addressed his friendship with convicted internet fraudster Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, revealing that he never knew the true source of the socialite’s wealth.
In a recent interview, the Afrobeats singer admitted they were friends but claimed he had no idea about Hushpuppi’s criminal activities. Hushpuppi, who was well-known for flaunting a lavish lifestyle on social media, is currently serving an 11-year sentence in the United States for his involvement in an international cybercrime ring.
Reflecting on the situation, Davido noted that some people choose to enjoy a few years of extravagant living, even if it means facing the consequences later in life.
“My prayers go out to him, he’s my friend,” Davido said about Hushpuppi. “I just see him around. I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived a good life.”
Before Hushpuppi’s arrest in 2020, he was frequently spotted at luxury events and parties with celebrities, including Davido.
