King of Afrobeat Davido has reacted to Tyla's win at the 66th Grammy Awards!

South African artist Tyla achieved a significant milestone by being honored with the inaugural Best African Music Performance award at the 2024 Grammy Awards. This historic win makes Tyla the youngest and the first South African to receive this recognition, marking her as the first-ever recipient of the award. Notably, this victory holds special significance for Tyla, as it also marks her first Grammy nomination.

Tyla faced tough competition from fellow nominees such as Burna Boy, Davido, Musa Keys, Ayra Star, Olamide, and Asake in a tightly contested race. Her acclaimed track Water clinched the award at the 66th edition. The announcement of her victory sparked a mix of positive and negative reactions on social media, surprising many. Despite the varied responses, numerous congratulations and well-wishes have been extended to the superstar, acknowledging her achievement.

King of Afrobeat Davido who received three nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards has also congratulated Tyla on her massive win. Via social media, he said, "Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa ! Big One for africa! Keep soaring!".

During Tyla's acceptance of the Best African Music Performance Award with Water by Fela Anikulapo Kuti playing in the background she said, "I never thought I’d say I won a GRAMMY at 22 years old. Thank you so much to God, my team, my family. Thank you to the recording academy for this category".
