Davido claps back at social media trolls amid Osun political drama

SHARE

Nigerian music superstar Davido has once again made headlines, this time for a viral social media exchange centered on his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the ongoing political developments involving the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The conversation began with a social media X user Akin Akinwale commenting on the political tension in Osun, noting reports that the Osun APC was allegedly preventing Governor Adeleke from joining the party. He speculated that a “plot twist” could occur if Adeleke were to win with the Accord Party and take over the Osun APC.

Another X user, WEWE ADEFISAYO, jokingly brought Davido into the discussion, suggesting in Pidgin English that “If e lose na Davido go compose song for APC during 2027 campaign.” The comment implied that Davido might switch political support if his family experienced a setback.

Davido responded swiftly, turning the joke into an opportunity to flex his family’s financial prowess. He wrote, “Or we can just go back to our multi billion dollar company…,” showcasing that political outcomes would have little effect on their wealth or status.

When another user, Mr Sam, told him to “Oga go sit down for ground joor”, a Pidgin phrase urging him to humble himself, Davido fired back with a striking display of his lifestyle: “I’m actually sitting in the air in a global 7500 cost about 75 million dollars…” referencing his Bombardier Global 7500 private jet.

The interaction quickly went viral, drawing attention to the intersection of Nigerian music, politics, and social media. Davido’s assertive and humorous responses not only defended his family’s position but also reinforced his image as one of Africa’s most influential entertainers.

This episode reflects how Nigerian artists continue to navigate public scrutiny and political discourse while leveraging their platforms to assert influence and maintain personal branding.
