King of Afrobeat Davido has credited the older generation of Nigerian artists as changemakers. He expressed that the sacrifices of the past are what the new cats of music are enjoying today.

Davido appeared on an episode of the YouTube series, The Bridge. Real Madrid French midfielder Aurelian Thouameni and Supermodel Cindy Bruna joined him. In addition was the CEO of Audemars Piguet, François-Henry Bennahmias.

During the interview, Davido reflected on the contributions of the older generation of Afrobeats stars. He acknowledged the international success of icons like 2Baba, D'banj, and P-Square. Davido credited these pioneers for their sacrifices.

Discussing his journey with Sony Music after signing in 2016, Davido described it as a challenging period where he had to establish himself in an international market unfamiliar with his African accomplishments.

Davido recognized that he and his contemporaries were benefiting from the groundwork laid by Afrobeats trailblazers. He mentioned the likes of 2Baba, D'banj, and P-Square. Davido emphasized that any sacrifices made by this present generation would pave the way for the future.

He said "I looked at my manager and told him 'I am not starting again'. It takes time to understand that what we are sacrificing now, what P-square, D-banji, and 2face sacrificed for us is what we are enjoying. What we are sacrificing now the next generation is going to come and be bigger because the music is only going to grow bigger".
